ASSEMBLY OF PLASTER SPOTLIGHTS: HOW TO INSTALL THEM CORRECTLY
The plaster
spotlights are increasingly present in modern furnishings: light and bring out
the details of any environment, creating an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere.
Installing them is easy, especially in rooms where there are false ceilings and
plasterboard walls. So let's see how to proceed with the assembly of the
plaster spotlights, in a completely DIY way.

How to install recessed spotlights
and surface spotlights
First you
need to consider where the spotlights will be mounted, calculating their
position exactly. The light beam of each spotlight and the affected area must
be taken into account, avoiding to install spotlights too close or far from
each other (and consequently to over light or leave uncovered areas). To do
this we would need to equip ourselves with a meter and a pencil to carry out
the necessary measures and mark the wall where the hole will be made. Before
drilling the hole it would be good to have a metal detector and make sure there
are no metal parts of the plasterboard structure, to avoid damaging them. In
this case, it will be sufficient to move the hole a few centimeters.
Now we are
ready to drill the holes: we need to equip ourselves with a hole cutter (if the
spotlight is round) or plasterboard saw (if the spotlight has square shapes)
to carve a hole slightly larger than the size of the spotlight, but do not
overdo it (then you will go to plaster the whole thing).
At this the point we just have to apply the frame and the respective spotlight, inserting
it in the newly created compartment, slightly bending the special fins and
making them rest on the structure. Before doing this we must connect everything
to the electric current: if you are familiar with the electrical system, the
operation is elementary, but if nothing is known about it, it is always better
to consult an electrician.
The assembly
of the plaster, the spotlight is now complete.
How to plaster spotlights
To fill the
newly-assembled spotlights it is necessary to buy plasterboard putty or paint
and touch up the grouted surface. Then mix the stucco mixing it with water and
mix it until you get a homogeneous mixture. With the help of a spatula, apply a
layer of stucco sufficient to cover the joint of the spotlight with the
plasterboard, leveling and leveling as much as possible the irregularities.
Finally, touch up with the paint once the grout is dry.
How to clean spotlights
The
spotlights must be cleaned with a cloth in soft flannel or with the magical
white sponge used to eliminate the marks. The ideal would be to apply starch or
plaster on the flannel cloth. Absolutely forbidden to use water or damp cloths!
